With the defeat of Russia and the weakening of Germany, Western countries are demanding better conditions of peace. In January 1918 U.S. President Woodrow Wilson proposed 14 points claimed:
1. Abolition of secret treaties between countries.
2. Elimination of customs barriers.
3. Autonomy of the peoples of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
4. Creation of the League of Nations.

In 1918, the armistice was signed between Germany and the victorious countries it was established: the total suspension of hostilities, the evacuation of occupied countries, abrogation of treaties with Russia and weapons delivery. In 1919 he signed the Treaty of Versailles (EU W. Wilson, Lloyd George England, Goerges Clemeceau, France) who blamed Germany for the war and postwar conditions imposed severe:
1. Waiver of all its colonies in the interests of the victors.
2. Reduction of all its armies a hundred thousand soldiers.
3. Demilitarization of the Rhine River and repeal of the military.
4. France recovered (Alsace and Lorraine) and corrected borders for the benefit of Belgium, Poland and Denmark.
5. Compensation for war damages and costs.
6. Creation of the League of Nations.
