Sudden Development Of Motion Sickness

(1914)

On the Western Front, the Germans wanted a quick war, a key to his victory, following the provisions of the Schlieffen plan, based on the calculation that the Russian army would need several weeks to put in front of their power. The Germans wanted launch a swift attack against France and then fell on a fulminant Russia, thus securing the eastern front.
The Germans invaded Belgium on August 4 and released on France, where Marshal Joffre conducts a desperate counterattack that failed to stem the German advance on the Marne in September 1914. In this battle the French get the Germans to withdraw from the territory they had conquered.
Since that time both armies were established on solid defensive lines. Thus began in the west trench warfare, which replaced the initial warfare. For other side on the eastern front the Russians invaded East Prussia, after that first step. Germans, after the victory at Tannenberg imposed. And thus halting the progress achieved. Given these facts, the "blitz" designed by Germany failed, and the war takes longer than what the country could expect, realizing he would win the side that most were able to resist.

War Trenches (1915-1916) Proceedings of the war

The balance of forces and weapons greatly facilitated formidable defense against attack and imposed to stabilize the front. The soldiers placed dozens of miles of barbed wire and mines between the North Sea and Switzerland. An assault had such a disadvantage against an opponent that none of the two sides decided to launch a major offensive, at least until late 1915. And human health conditions for the soldiers were very crude.

In late 1915, Archduke Falkenhayn, Chief of Staff, proposed the project to the Kaiser: attack Verdun, impenetrable fortress according to French propaganda, but was in difficult position by not having a road or rail for reavituallamiento. He hoped that his downfall would weaken the morale of French soldiers. The idea was to liquidate a large number of enemy troops at a cost of "reasonable" in Germanic lives.

On 21 February 1916, the attack began with artillery positions wildly allied bombing. The Germans made little progress, but the French losses were enormous. On 25 February General Langle of Cary decided to leave, the most reasonable from a strategic standpoint. But the French command thought they could not afford to lose Verdun and appointed in place of Philippe Pétain, who organized a series of violent counterattacks. The Germans turned the battle in front of a vast slaughter reduced.

On 1 July, the British unleashed a massive parallel struggle in the Battle of the Somme, in order to divide the German troops and reduce the pressure on France. The Germans fell by 15 December. In the end, the front almost unchanged, despite the hundreds of thousands of casualties. The war was total and the calculations did not stop bleeding compared to that implied.

With the defeat of Russia and the weakening of Germany, Western countries are demanding better conditions of peace. In January 1918 U.S. President Woodrow Wilson proposed 14 points claimed:
1. Abolition of secret treaties between countries.
2. Elimination of customs barriers.
3. Autonomy of the peoples of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
4. Creation of the League of Nations.

In 1918, the armistice was signed between Germany and the victorious countries it was established: the total suspension of hostilities, the evacuation of occupied countries, abrogation of treaties with Russia and weapons delivery. In 1919 he signed the Treaty of Versailles (EU W. Wilson, Lloyd George England, Goerges Clemeceau, France) who blamed Germany for the war and postwar conditions imposed severe:
1. Waiver of all its colonies in the interests of the victors.
2. Reduction of all its armies a hundred thousand soldiers.
3. Demilitarization of the Rhine River and repeal of the military.
4. France recovered (Alsace and Lorraine) and corrected borders for the benefit of Belgium, Poland and Denmark.
5. Compensation for war damages and costs.
6. Creation of the League of Nations.

Conclusions

Upon completion of this investigation, we can conclude that the First World War:

1. It lasted four years, three months and fourteen days with profound changes in the European territory.

2. The war represented a cost of 186,000 million dollars to the belligerent countries.

3. The casualties on the ground fighting amounted to several million people belonging to the civilian population and, in some cases, died indirectly because of the war.

4. Although all nations hoped that the agreements reached after the conflict would restore world peace on a stable foundation, the conditions imposed promoted an even more destructive conflict. The Central Powers agreed to the fourteen points made by President Wilson as the foundation of the armistice, hoping the allies adopted as the basic reference in the peace treaties.

5. Most of the allied powers went to the Conference Versailles with the determination to obtain compensation for war reparations equivalent to the total cost and share the same territories and possessions of the defeated nations by secret agreements.

6. During the peace negotiations, President Wilson insisted that the Paris Peace Conference accepted the full program organized in fourteen points, but finally abandoned its original purpose and focused on getting the support of allies for the formation of the Society Nations.

7. The occupying powers allowed it to fail to meet certain terms set out in the Versailles peace treaty which led to the resurgence of militarism and aggressive nationalism in Germany and social unrest in many parts of Europe.

8. World War I brought destruction, disease and pain to all participating countries.

9. There was great scientific advances for military purposes which resulted in more deaths and destruction.

10. And finally, this war did not resolve the conflict, on the contrary, stressed that after twenty years or so, caused the World War II.
